The National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) leadership has approved a blueprint for the party’s reorganization, which is awaiting ratification by the party’s National Executive Committee.
This follows the NDC’s nomination appeal being dismissed by the Supreme Court.
About the fact that the election petition did not go as planned, the NDC remains certain that the 2020 elections was manipulated in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Tensions in the NDC have risen as a result of the party’s inability to usurp control from the NPP, which has been in power since 2017.
The roadmap, which was adopted at the NDC’s weekend retreat in the Volta Region, will be made public in the coming weeks, according to the group.

The retreat was attended by the party’s flagbearer and running mate for the 2020 Presidential Election, the Functional Executive Committee, representatives from the Council of Elders, Parliamentary Caucus Leadership, all 16 provincial chairmen and secretaries, and other high-ranking party officials.
The aim of the retreat was to evaluate the party’s results in the 2020 general elections, improve the party’s institutions, and strategize about how to reorganize the party for success in the 2024 general elections.
The NDC’s leadership have used the meeting to go through the Electoral Commission’s, military’s, and other security agencies’ roles in the 2020 general elections.
“The party’s leadership vowed to overcome the problems that the party faced in the 2020 general elections, advocate for democratic changes, and launch a set of initiatives to strengthen party solidarity and rekindle the spirit of loyalty and hard work within the party’s rank and file in preparation for recapturing power in 2024,” according to the declaration.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC’s General Secretary, also encouraged the party’s Parliamentary Caucus to “work hard with a united purpose and hold the failed Akufo-Addo government accountable” in the declaration.
“The party leadership encourages all stakeholders and sympathizers to actively engage in the reorganization program that will be rolled out soon by the party as we begin our mission to rescue Ghana from the clutches of the incompetent, deceitful, and dishonest NPP/Akufo-Addo government and return her back to the road of growth, inclusion, and progress,” the spokesperson added.
