The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly denied President Akufo-Addo’s allegations that the party is behind the controversial ‘Agyapadie’ document and the unfounded rumors surrounding the death of his late wife, Eleanor Akufo-Addo.
In a recent address at the Ghana Report Summit, themed ‘Dealing with Misinformation and Disinformation in the Upcoming Election,’ President Akufo-Addo accused the NDC of orchestrating false narratives, including claims that he is responsible for his wife’s death.
He also suggested that the NDC was behind the contentious ‘Agyapadie’ document, which some view as an attempt at state capture during his presidency.
The 38-page document, which first emerged over eight years ago, has resurfaced due to its predictions aligning with recent events in Ghanaian politics.
Despite this, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) continues to dismiss the document, accusing their political opponents (NDC) of being behind its creation.
Responding to these accusations, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, refuted the claims and called on the President to focus on the content of the ‘Agyapadie’ document rather than shifting blame.
“The document in question reflects various issues currently affecting the country,” Dr. Omane Boamah stated. Instead of making baseless accusations, the President should address the substantive concerns raised by the document.”
Dr. Omane Boamah also urged President Akufo-Addo to demonstrate his commitment to a smooth democratic transition by preparing to hand over power to the winner of the 2024 December 7 elections saying “It is important for the President to show readiness for a peaceful transfer of power.”
