The Central Regional Director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Robert Ekow Ewur, has urged professionals particularly women in communities to consider contesting in district assembly elections.
Stressing the importance of community development, Mr. Ewur emphasized that the expertise and participation of professionals, women, and individuals of various skills would enhance the progress of their respective districts.
Expressing concerns about the current representation in local offices, Mr. Ewur highlighted the need for individuals with knowledge and a passion for community development to participate.
Speaking ahead of the scheduled 19th December District Level Elections on the ATLANTIC WAVE, he advocated for qualified persons such as doctors, lawyers, and skilled experts to consider running for such positions, believing that their contributions could lead to meaningful district progress.
Moreover, Mr. Ewur stressed the nonpartisan nature of these elections, emphasizing that no party colours should be displayed during the electoral process.
He cited the Constitution and local Acts, noting the significance of a nonpartisan approach aligning with the spirit of the Constitution.
Additionally, Mr. Ewur encouraged qualified individuals to fulfill their civic duties by participating in the upcoming elections while emphasizing the importance of casting their votes.
He underscored the need for voters to assess candidates based on their potential contributions to community development, regardless of political affiliations.
His call to action extended to the community, stressing the impact of active participation in these elections, indicating that community progress relies on the election of capable leaders.
