Patience Asiedua, also identified as Nana Agradaa, a money doubler and spiritualist, has been detained.
Nana Agradaa was detained on Tuesday night by a joint squad of Police and National Security Intelligence Operatives, in coordination with the National Communications Authority, for her moneymaking ritual, ‘sika gari.’
Two TV stations, Thunder TV and Ice1 TV, were also shut down for working without licenses at Kasoa in the Central Region, where they allegedly transmitted money-doubling news.
From both locations, the squad confiscated two items of machinery, one of which was included in the suspected illicit transmission.
On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, Minister for Communications and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu-Ekuful revealed this on her social media profile.
According to the information accessible, the self-styled conventional priestess’ TV channels have been running without permission for years, contributing to their closing.
The state’s move comes in response to recent complaints of people posing as spiritualists broadcasting pornographic material in the media.
It comes after the brutal murder of an 11-year-old child, reportedly for money ritual purposes, by two teenagers.

“At approximately 2200 hours on April 20, 2021, a combined squad of Police and National Security Intelligence Operatives, in coordination with the National Communications Authority, raided the premises of two satellite television stations, Thunder TV and Ice1 TV, in Kasoa, Central Region, who were unlawfully broadcasting without licenses.
The squad apprehended the suspects, including Patience Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, the owner of Thunder TV, and confiscated two (2) pieces of equipment each used in the illicit transmitting from both locations. Nana Agradaa promotes her “Sika Gari” on her television channel, claiming that it is her personal god who multiplies money by rituals she performs. As a result, she has confessed to the illegality and is now being held in detention to help with the inquiry.
The proliferation of unchecked television channels has resulted in the promotion of such material that may jeopardize public order, morals, and others’ rights and credibility. As a result, attempts are being made to clear the infrastructure of this affliction and reduce overcrowding on Ghana’s airwaves.”
