Before the general election in December, well-known Ghanaian singer Nacee revealed that he had completed and submitted a campaign song for the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The unconventional artist had earlier said that he wrote “Onaapo,” one of the NDC’s well-known campaign songs from 2016 and 2020.
Nacee, the winner of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for Gospel Song and Gospel Artiste of the Year, disclosed in a recent interview on Angel TV and monitored by ATL FM, he said that he was asked to write a song for the political party in 2022. He has since finished it and given it to Asiedu Nketiah, the chairman of the party.
“Ah, that was a while ago, back in 2022,” confirming that he was indeed approached by the party.
Additionally, he disclosed that the song he recently produced focuses on the idea of the 24-hour economy, which is a platform supported by NDC presidential candidate John Mahama. This clarifies the party’s position on economic expansion and advancement.
When the host asked Nacee when the song will be published, Nacee said that it would rely on the wishes of the party. He is awaiting the party’s decision regarding the song’s release date.
“When I am done with my part, I submit it to them after which they will go through to see what they will also do.
“At the right time, they release it and we continue. I am making four songs this year, they sometimes demand for six since the various songs have different purposes they serve”, he added.

When the host questioned Nacee about who specifically contacts him, he said that prominent NDC leaders like Mr. Julius Debrah, Asiedu Nketia, and former President John Mahama phone him in an attempt to use his musical abilities for campaign songs and other political endeavors.
“President Mahama himself calls to schedule a meeting. When I get there we do not only talk about music, we also talk about other things, then he expresses his idea and expectation for the campaign song, after which I also go and think about it to deliver.
“Sometimes General Asiedu Nketia can call me, Honourable Julius Debrah can also call me”, he said.
