Ghanaian hiplife artist Mzbel has expressed her disappointment at not winning any awards despite two decades in the music industry.
Rising to fame in 2004 with her debut album “Awoso Me,” Mzbel became one of the leading female artists during her peak. She also gained popularity in several African countries, including Nigeria, Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Kenya.

While she acknowledges the appreciation she received from these nations, Mzbel claims her home country, Ghana, has not recognized her with any awards. During an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, she stated, “I have been in the industry for 20 years; I’ve never received any award.”

She made this remark while discussing what she would do differently if she were starting her music career today. Mzbel admitted that her lack of preparation affected her journey, saying, “I am not blaming anybody; I think it is the branding. If I were starting music today, I would focus more on my branding. It wasn’t well organized. I was just launched without proper branding, saying anything on the radio and wearing whatever, even going places I shouldn’t have.”
Known for her candid personality, Mzbel also clarified that she has not retired from music and is currently working on a new song about toxic friendships. She is recognized for hits like “16 Years,” “Awoso Me,” “Yopoo,” “Edey Be,” “Twe Ma Me,” “Braa Fiifi,” and “My Bonnet.”
