The long-brewing tension between musician and entrepreneur Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, and self-styled prophet Fire Oja has officially spilled into the courtroom.
An Adenta District Court has now taken up the matter, setting March 11, 2026, as the next date to continue hearing a defamation case arising from comments allegedly made about the singer on social media.

Both Mzbel and Fire Oja made their first appearance before the court on Friday, January 30, 2025, marking the formal start of the legal battle.
Following the court session, Mzbel took to social media to update the public on what transpired, revealing that Fire Oja was granted bail in the sum of GHS 50,000 with two sureties. She emphasized that taking the legal route was a conscious decision aimed at protecting her name and career.

In her post, Mzbel stated:
“Today, I appeared before the court in relation to a defamation matter arising from statements made about me on social media.
The court proceedings went smoothly. The accused, Fire Oja, was granted bail in the sum of GHS 50,000, with two sureties.
This matter is currently before the court, and I have full confidence in the judicial process. I initiated this action to protect my name, reputation, and professional work.
Out of respect for the court, I will not be making further comments on the substance of the case at this time. I kindly ask the media and the public to allow the legal process to take its course. Thank you.”
The case follows events from weeks earlier, when Mzbel disclosed that Fire Oja had been taken into police custody over remarks she described as false and damaging. At the time, she said the prophet was cooperating with investigators after she filed a formal complaint against him.

Mzbel has accused Fire Oja of making defamatory claims, including statements linked to a video in which he alleged that she had been hospitalized following what he described as a spiritual or soul travel experience—claims she has firmly dismissed as untrue.
Although Fire Oja later denied reports of his arrest, Mzbel maintained in an interview with ZionFelix that he was indeed taken into custody. She further reiterated after the court session, in a video message, that her main goal is to clear her name, which ultimately pushed her to seek legal redress.
With the case now adjourned to March 11, 2026, all eyes remain on the courtroom as the high-profile defamation battle continues.
