The Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Ernest Arthur has blamed the disturbances during his confirmation processes on the loyalty of some assembly members to their political parties.
However, he notes that he has no grudge with any assembly member adding that “I believe in them, they believe in me and I will be working with them.”
Mr. Arthur, who was nominated by the President to be confirmed as the MCE on two different occasions was rejected by assembly members as he failed to secure the needed two-thirds of their votes.
However, on Sunday, October 17, he was confirmed and sworn in as the MCE after securing 45 votes out of a total of 63 at the Center for National Culture in Cape Coast although the election was marred by chaos.

Speaking on the ATLANTIC WAVE Monday, Mr. Arthur indicated that he was grateful for the nomination and subsequent confirmation although he had to go through the ordeal of three elections.
According to him, all the allegations leveled against him are not true and now his core mission is to ensure the development of the metropolis.
He said “I don’t know what they intend by bribery and the kind of evidence they have to that… in his whole process, no one will run away from this. In the whole of Ghana, any MMDCE’s nominee after meeting your members before that voting day, at least they call them to a venue so a token for TNT is given”.
He reiterated the fact that he will work with all assembly members and the Members of Parliament without any conflict and called on all indigenes of Cape Coast to support him.
