Twenty-five babies born on Christmas Day at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) received baby hampers from MTN Ghana, as part of the company’s annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to spread love and joy during the festive season.
The donation, made on December 25, brought excitement and relief to mothers in the maternity ward, many of whom described the gesture as a Christmas blessing.
Each hamper contained essential baby care items, including diapers, baby powder, pomade, bathing soap, baby oil, detergents, towels, and toys to support mothers in caring for their newborns during the early days after delivery.
Presenting the items on behalf of the company, the Central and Western Regional Human Resources Manager of MTN Ghana, Ms. Regina Arkaifie, said the gesture reflected MTN’s long-standing commitment to promoting community well-being and making a meaningful impact in the health sector.

“Christmas is a season of love, hope, and giving, and as a company rooted in the communities we serve, MTN believes it is important to extend that love to mothers and babies who share this special day with the nation,” she said.
Ms. Arkaifie added that the annual initiative also symbolises the biblical act of giving, noting, “Just as the wise men brought gifts to welcome the birth of Christ, MTN is also welcoming these babies into the world and into the MTN family.”

She further announced that MTN would continue to introduce innovative products and services in the coming year while maintaining its commitment to community development and compassion-driven projects.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at CCTH, Madam Veronica Koomson, expressed deep appreciation to MTN Ghana, noting that many mothers arrive at the hospital without basic baby essentials.
“Most pregnant women come to the delivery ward with nothing, not even baby diapers, and nurses sometimes have to contribute money to support them. These hampers will provide much-needed relief and comfort to mothers and their newborns,” she said.
Some beneficiaries also shared their gratitude. Vida Obosu, who delivered a baby girl, described the gesture as a “Christmas miracle,” while Salamatu Nuhu, another new mother, said the items would “make the early days of childcare much easier.”
Over the years, MTN Ghana has carried out similar Christmas baby donations in hospitals across the country, reinforcing its reputation as one of Ghana’s most socially responsible companies committed to improving lives, fostering social inclusion, and strengthening community bonds.
