The telecom giant reported a 6.3% decrease in its subscriber base, which stood at 26.8 million by the end of 2023.
As of May 31, 2023, MTN Ghana has blocked 5.4 million SIM cards that were not registered with the Ghana card.

However, 600,000 SIMs from the blocked group were successfully re-registered.
In October 2021, the NCA, in collaboration with telecom operators, initiated a countrywide re-registration of all SIM cards utilizing the Ghana National ID card.
End of May 2023 was the completion date of the exercise.
