The winner of Ms. Geek Africa, Ms Selasi Ama Domi-Kuwornu has advised girls to use the mirror as one of the key tools in building their self-confidence.
Addressing female students at the Climax of the National Girls in ICT programme held at Damongo, in the Savannah Region, she explained that the mirror was her ally in building the confidence she needed during her preparation to win the Ms. Geek Ghana and eventually Ms. Geek Africa.
21-year-old final year student of the University of Cape Coast, Selasi Ama Domi-Kuwornu was crowned winner of the 2023 Ms. Geek Africa Competition after a keen contest at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, held from 26th -28th April, 2023 after she won the Miss Geek Ghana Competition in December, 2019.
The Ministry of Communications and Digitalization headed by Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful launched the Ms. Geek Ghana Competition on 9th October to empower girls in the field of ICT.
According to Ms. Selasi Domi-Kuwornu, the opportunity given to her through the ministry’s platform on Girls in ICT helped her to grow confidently and competitively.
She, therefore, advised girls to build their confidence using the mirror as that is what helped her to excel.
“Me, the mirror worked for me. I was not using a smartphone when I won Miss Geek Ghana… Use the mirror, build your self-confidence. Build your presentation skill. Build the way you can stand in front of people to talk to them without having to feel like they will laugh at you. No matter how you look, as far as you come with confidence and you come with God or you go with Allah, I assure you, everything is going to be all right” she said.
Ms Selasi Ama Domi-Kuwornu shared that her ICT-based solution project named ‘Kasa-Cash” an offline system to aid the vulnerable in society to effortlessly perform financial services without third-party assistance afforded her the win in the Miss Geek Ghana and Miss Geek Africa.
According to her, she needed to close the gap for the vulnerable such as the aged, illiterates, and persons with disability to avoid being cheated.
