In a significant move towards the much-anticipated December 7 general elections, Mr. Lawrence Kwabena Agyinsam, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Hemang Lower Denkyira in the Central Region, has officially filed and submitted his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC).
This key event took place at the EC’s district office in Jukwa at approximately 2:40 PM on September 9, 2024, marking an important milestone in his political journey.
Mr. Agyinsam, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Exim Bank, won the opportunity to represent the NPP in the upcoming elections after successfully defeating the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Bright Wereko Brobbey, during the party’s primaries earlier this year.
His victory was viewed as a major upset within the party, signaling a fresh change of direction and a new face to champion the party’s agenda in the constituency.
The filing event was not merely a routine process but a grand show of support for Mr. Agyinsam’s candidacy.
He was accompanied by a formidable delegation of key NPP figures, including the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Nana Kweku Abban, the Central Regional Treasurer, the constituency chairman, as well as several assembly members and other executives of the party.

Adding to the charged atmosphere was an enthusiastic crowd of party faithfuls and supporters, who thronged the streets of Jukwa to demonstrate their solidarity with the candidate. The crowd’s energy and passion were evident as they cheered him on, reinforcing the broad base of support he enjoys at the grassroots level. Many waved NPP flags, while others chanted slogans in favour of Mr. Agyinsam, turning the event into a mini-rally of sorts.
Mr. Agyinsam’s nomination is a pivotal moment in his campaign, representing both a symbolic and practical advancement towards his ultimate goal of winning the parliamentary seat for the NPP in the Hemang Lower Denkyira constituency. Having officially entered the race, he is now poised to intensify his campaign efforts as he works to convince voters of his vision for progress and development in the constituency.
The submission of the nomination papers is just the beginning, with the campaign trail expected to heat up in the coming weeks.
Mr. Agyinsam’s team is reportedly gearing up for a vigorous campaign, focusing on addressing key issues affecting the constituency, including education, infrastructure, health, and job creation.
His campaign message is expected to resonate with a wide spectrum of the electorate, ranging from youth and women to farmers and business owners, as he aims to unify the constituency behind a common development agenda.
Speaking to the media after submitting the nomination forms, the constituency organizer of the party, Ali Sumaila indicated that Mr. Agyinsam stood primarily for the transformation of the constituency.
“He is just making sure that, to a large extent the constituency has good roads, so that the farmers, the constituents and everybody who works in this constituency will be able to work with ease”, he stated.
As the countdown to the December 7 elections continues, Mr. Agyinsam is set to face candidates from other political parties, each of whom is vying to secure the seat in Parliament. The Hemang Lower Denkyira constituency, known for its dynamic political landscape, is expected to be one of the hotly contested battlegrounds in the Central Region. With the NPP candidate enjoying both party and grassroots support, the race is shaping up to be highly competitive.
In the coming days, Mr. Agyinsam is expected to roll out a comprehensive campaign strategy that addresses the pressing concerns of the constituents, while also promoting the NPP’s broader vision for the nation.
