Foreign Policy and Security Analyst, Mr Adib Saani has called on the media and relevant stakeholders to sensitize the public on the newly launched National Strategy.
The National Security Strategy was launched by President Nana Akffuo Addo on Monday June 7, 2021. The National Security Strategy is Ghana’s first comprehensive framework detailing how to meet the security needs and security concerns of Ghanaians, provides guidelines for the work of security agencies and addresses external and internal threats to the country.
Speaking in an interview with Atl FM News, Mr Saani said it is prudent to educate the public on this framework and on how every individual can contribute their quota in achieving the objectives of the policy.
He indicated that managing the security of the state is not just the role of the men and women in uniform adding that it is everybody’s responsibility to play a role in it.
For instance, you cannot have the police everywhere all the time, so on the personal level we must commit to ensure our personal safety, the security of our family, the security of our communities, then we can have the state authorities complement our actions. Then, overall, everyone plays a role in ensuring the security of the state” he said.

Speaking to the recent happenings surrounding the work of the National Security, he criticized the Asankragua Casino raid and called for more professionalism in order to allay the fears and misconceptions of Ghanaians about the National Security.
He however indicated that despite the importance of the newly launched document, government needs to intensify its efforts in making this policy efficient as others that had been launched over the years had failed due to lack of accountability and implementation.
He stressed that, “It is a good news however it is too early to celebrate. We are all in the country and we see how documents are drafted and are passed and everybody is happy about it. But in the end we always don’t have it well implemented. That becomes a problem”.
A senior lecturer at the Department of Conservation Biology and Entomology at the University of Cape Coast, Dr Andrew Adutwum Kudom has indicated that some mosquitoes have developed mutations which have made them resist some insecticide sprays.
Speaking on the Atlantic wave he explained that mutations that has been developed by some species has made it very difficult for them to die even when they are sprayed with the insecticides.
“When you expose the mosquito to insecticides there is a target site that the insecticide should reach so that it kills the mosquito. But some of them have developed mutations so when the insecticide get there is not able to interact with the site for the mosquito to die. This is one of the major reasons that mosquito are resisting these insecticides” he reiterated.
He therefore called on regulatory bodies including the Vector Disease Control Companies to collaborate and find a way to curb this situation.
