As part of some new developments in the health sector of the country, the government has successfully brought a transition in patient history and record keeping through the E-health system.
This system ensures that records of patients are connected to an Information Technology System and saved on computers for easy access to health professionals.
Highlighting the benefits of the E-health system, Dr. Okoe Boye emphasized saying “All your data is on a computer and by the time you get to the lab, the lab man has it on the computer. By the time you get to the theatre, your information is on the computer. By the time you get to the ward, the nurse has a tablet that has all your data and so we have done a significant job to network these hospitals.”
In a press briefing at the Ministry of Information on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye expressed that the project has the objectives of optimizing the business process to enhance cost saving, improve systems to harmonize them and allow hospitals to talk to each other.
He clarified that the E-health system is not subjected to only private or small hospitals but larger hospitals as well and added that Ghana now has most of its hospitals operating on the E-health system.
