A claim of visa fraud has brought Monalisa Abigail Semeha, better known as “Mona Gucci” in the entertainment world, before an Accra Circuit Court.
The accused allegedly took GH¢103,400 from a trader under the pretext of securing her a United States of America visa.
Mona Gucci allegedly failed to deliver the said USA visa.
Charged with defrauding by false pretense, Mona Gucci, a travel consultant, pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Isaac Addo has admitted her to a GH¢200,000.00 bail with one surety, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) reports.
The anticipated return date of Mona Gucci is December 11, 2023.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Frimpong presented the case’s facts, which state that Mona Gucci resides in Odorkor, Accra, and that the complainant, Comfort Obiri, is a trader who lived in Ofankor.
The prosecution said in February 2019, the complainant was introduced to the accused person by one Esther as a person who could secure a United States of America visa for her.
According to the report, the complainant saw the accused in Accra, where she gave her the assurance that, for GH¢40,000, she could obtain a USA visa.
The prosecution said the complainant introduced three other people to the accused person for her to secure visas for them as well.
According to the report, the accused tried to obtain the visas by collecting GH¢103,400 from them but was unsuccessful.
The prosecution claimed the defendant made a pledge to reimburse money but fell short.
