The Ministry of Health has, in a statement, announced the launch of the 2025 Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Accra under the theme, “No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone.”
According to the statement dated October 1, 2025, the commemoration is being organized in partnership with the Ghana Health Service, Civil Society Organizations, and both local and international stakeholders. It aims to raise awareness, promote early detection, and strengthen access to quality breast cancer care across the country.
The statement further highlighted the global impact of the disease, noting that an estimated 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide in recent years, with 670,000 reported deaths. It stressed that these figures are not meant to cause fear, but to inspire hope and encourage support for those battling the condition.
This year’s activities, as outlined in the statement, will include nationwide campaigns, free screening exercises, community outreach programs, and advocacy for equitable access to treatment.
The Ministry urged the public to actively participate in these initiatives to help save lives and reduce the burden of breast cancer in Ghana.
