The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has called for the approval of the sum of Two billion, three hundred and ninety-two million, nine hundred and sixty thousand, two hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis for the year ending December 2024.
According to the ministry, this amount is to aid the smooth running and implementation of the ministry’s services.
The Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Francisca Oteng Mensah made this call on the floor of parliament on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
She said the approval of this amount is critical for the day-to-day running of the policies, services and all other activities that may be deemed fit.
Contributing to the need for parliament to approve the said amount, the Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency, Patricia AppiaGyei said the mandate of the ministry is vital for the growth and development, particularly concerning children, the poor, and the vulnerable in Ghanaian Society.
She therefore submitted to the Ministry of Finance to review packages, goods and services quota allocated to the ministry to ensure that critical and essential services are delivered to the children, the aged, and persons living with disabilities.
She further recommended to the House to “adopt its report and approve the amount of two billion three hundred and ninety-two million nine hundred and sixty thousand, two hundred and eighty Ghana cedis for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection for the year ending 31st December 2024.”
