Microsoft has introduced Command Palette, an updated launcher app for Windows designed for developers and power users. This new tool offers quick access to commands, applications, and development resources, building on the features of the original PowerToys Run launcher launched nearly five years ago.
Command Palette allows users to search for apps, folders, files, perform calculations, and execute system commands. Available through the PowerToys app, it caters specifically to power users and developers, enabling access to Windows commands and launching command prompts effortlessly. The interface also supports quick website openings, web searches, and file searches, similar to Spotlight or Alfred.

Additionally, Microsoft has integrated its previous Window Walker feature into Command Palette, making it easier to switch between open windows. One of the standout features is its full customizability, allowing users to add extensions for extra commands and functionalities.
Command Palette has been available since early April, activated using the Win+Alt+Space shortcut after installation. Microsoft has stated that Command Palette is intended to succeed PowerToys Run, although both will remain accessible for the time being. Recent updates to Command Palette were made ahead of the Build developer conference on May 19th.
