To speed up software development and AI infrastructure within the corporation, Microsoft established a new engineering department.
Jay Parikh, a former vice president and worldwide head of engineering at Meta, will oversee the new division, according to Bloomberg. He will supervise teams, such as the company’s AI platform and development teams, and answer to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
At Meta, Parikh worked on initiatives involving data centers and technical infrastructure. He was named CEO of cloud security firm Lacework before to joining Microsoft in October.

According to The Verge, the new organization, named CoreAI — Platform and Tools, is actually a synthesis of Microsoft’s current Dev Div and AI platform teams, as well as a few staff members from the Office of the CTO division.
