The Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast has held its146th Speech and Prize Giving Day with an assurance from the school’s management to continuously equip teachers with the requisite skills needed to produce graduates fit for the fourth industrial revolution.
This pledge was made by the Headmaster, Reverend Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo during his address where he gave a report on the year under review.
The theme for the Speech and Prize Giving Day was Hen Nananom Botae Pa: Producing Graduates Fit for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
Stressing the importance of the theme, Reverend Kobina Aidoo mentioned the school’s readiness to work hard to achieve this theme.
He said since the contributions of teachers will be inevitable in achieving this theme, the school’s management is ready to hold the third edition of their Annual Staff Development Workshop and Retreat to better position the teachers to discharge their duties effectively.
“This, I believe, will better position teachers, and prepare them well for them also to prepare the students for what we want to achieve.” He continued.
He said the school looks forward to having the workshop from Monday 9th to Thursday 12th January 2023, outside the school in other to add a third dimension as a way of realizing the personal development and spiritual upliftment of staff.
“After a whole year of working without leisure, vacation, and rest, we believe that about four days away from home will help teachers to relax and rejuvenate to begin the next academic year in January.” He emphasized
Rev Kobina Aidoo and the School’s Head Boy, appealed for the support of the Mfantsipim Old Boys’ Association (MOBA) and the general public in constructing a state-of-the-art Assembly Hall that is large enough to accommodate the entire school community during gatherings.
According to the headmaster, students take turns of 300 per sitting to take their meals resulting in the disruption of academic work and affecting discipline.
He said a new dining hall is needed to help address this challenge.
“What we have can’t contain more than three hundred boys. So our numbers should tell you how we are struggling. All gatherings are held right here at the quadrangle, including church service. So your guests will be as good as mine any time it rains. Let me add that we really need an assembly hall that can house all of us. This request has been repeated since 2018.” He said.
At the school’s 146th Speech and Prize Giving Day prizes such as Special Awards, 2021 WASSCE Awards, Sponsored Awards, and Schools Awards were given to deserving students.
