Meta has appointed Connor Hayes, its VP of Product for Generative AI, as the new head of Threads, according to Axios.
Previously, Instagram head Adam Mosseri oversaw Threads. However, as the platform has evolved beyond a mere side project of Instagram, additional leadership was deemed necessary.

Launched in 2023, Threads is rapidly gaining traction, with mobile daily active user (DAU) numbers nearing those of X, as reported by market intelligence provider Similarweb. Currently, Threads averages around 115 million mobile DAUs, while X has approximately 132 million.
