According to the Ghana Police Service, the GH2.5 million it received from the former CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has been deposited into the Bank of Ghana.
On October 24, 2023, a statement was released with the news.
“The Police, on the advice of the Office of the Attorney-General (AG), on Friday, October 20, 2023, received an amount of GH₵2.5 million from the founder of the defunct Menzgold company, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM 1. The said amount has been deposited in the Police Exhibit account at the Bank of Ghana (BoG) for the attention of the Court.”

The money, according to the police, is being investigated in connection with petitions against suspect Nana Appiah Mensah that clients of MenzGold Ghana Company Limited and Brew Marketing Consult Limited submitted in the Accra High Court.
“We would like to state that the decision on the disbursement of the money would be determined by the court,” the police service added in its statement.
On September 19, after being hauled to court for allegedly defrauding his clients, the CEO of the now-defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited was granted bail in the sum of GH500 million with four sureties, none of which were justified.
He was also had to turn in his passport to the court registry as part of the bail requirements.
This follows his not guilty plea to 39 counts of fraud and money laundering allegations, for which he is on trial alongside Menzgold Ghana Limited and Brew Marketing Consult.
