Samuel Frimpong, better known as Medikal, is scheduled to appear in court today, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, after a five-day remand.
On October 22, 2021, a Circuit Court judge in Accra remanded him for brandishing a firearm in a video seen on social media.
Medikal faces charges of displaying firearms and ammunition.
He however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
At the Friday, October 22, 2021, hearing, the lawyer for Ghanaian rapper Emmanuel Yeboah Gyan pleaded with the court to give his client bail, stating that his client is a law-abiding citizen with relatives on standby to help him meet the bail conditions.
However, the prosecution objected to the plea, stating that Medikal’s individual right to bail is subordinate to the community interest, which should be preserved.
Additionally, he maintained that portions of the case are still being investigated.
The judge agreed with him and remanded the accused.
Additionally, Shatta Wale and his three other accomplices are scheduled to appear in court today after a week on remand in connection with the false gun attack incident.
At his first court appearance, he pled not guilty to charges of publishing fake news and inciting fear and panic.
His accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator, have all pleaded not guilty to the allegation of abetment of crime.
