In the CAF Champions League’s first preliminary round, the defending champions from Ghana, Medeama SC, drew the Nigerian team Remo Stars.
After winning the Ghana Premier League the previous year, The Yellow and Mauves are representing Ghana in the continent’s largest club competition.
The Tarkwa-based club has previously participated in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2014 and 2017. This is the first time in their history that they will play in the premier football competition.

At Cape Coast Stadium, Medeama will host Remo in the first leg of the match before going to Nigeria for the second.
When Medeama last competed in CAF inter-club competitions, they advanced to the group stages by defeating Mamelodi Sundowns, a South African powerhouse, in a playoff.
The first leg matches for the second preliminary will take place from September 15 to September 17; the return matches will take place from September 19 to October 1.
In the second preliminary round, the winner of this matchup will play Guinean powerhouse Horoya AC, and the victor advances to the group round.
