The Chief Executive Officer of the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipal Assembly, Nana Appiah Korang says the alleged publication of three pupils being impregnated by a teacher in the municipal assembly is false and misleading.
According to him, thorough investigations have been conducted with ongoing consultation with various stakeholders on the issue adding that the story carried by Star FM, UTV, and Modern Ghana, which later assumed wider circulation on many Social Media platforms across the Nation and the World at large, was not accurate and also false.
The source of this publication is said to emanate from a seminar organized by the Ghana Education Service Guidance and Counselling Centre at Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region which was delivered by Dr Kyeremeh Tawiah Dabone, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast Counselling Centre during a public lecture.
At a press briefing on Wednesday to clear the misconception created by the said publications, Nana Appiah Korang said contact was made to the presenter of the statement, Dr. Kyeremeh Tawiah Dabone who emphatically explained that he never mentioned or associated the said pregnancy issue with KEEA municipal assembly or any other school under the KEEA Education Directorate.
Nana Appiah Korang, therefore, urged the various media houses to retract the publications through the same mode in which they were carried and render an apology to the Education unit and the municipal Assembly.
“Management of the Education Directorate and the KEEA Municipal Assembly demand an urgent and unreserved RETRACTION of this unfortunate publication which has attempted to discredit our Municipality, by ALL Media Houses and Social Media platforms by the same mode of Public Communication used within the shortest possible time from today. We shall seriously monitor such retractions from all angles that we consider involved. We further demand from Star FM, UTV, and Modern Ghana an apology in writing in this respect to save the situation.” He emphasized.
He however expressed appreciation to the Management of the KEEA Education Directorate and the KEEA Municipal Assembly as well as groups and individuals who showed much concern on the issue in the interest and development of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality.
