Even though United is in 13th place, former goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer believes they can still aim for European spots, including the top four.

“It’s Manchester United—certain goals have to be met. Will Amorim lose his job if he doesn’t reach them? I don’t think so, but they have to perform.”

Football expert Julien Laurens sees Amorim’s appointment as proof of the club’s ambition for this season.
“If this was just a transition year, they would have kept Ruud van Nistelrooy as the interim manager. Amorim could have waited until summer to take charge,” Laurens noted.
Instead, United wanted him in right away, showing they believe this season can still be great.
“The fact they brought him in now means they’re not ready to throw this season away.”
