A man in his thirties was pronounced dead after a dispute with a commercial driver’s mate over a GH₵2 fare increase.
The tragic incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 at the Lapaz bus terminal.
According to reports, the male passenger boarded the bus from Lapaz headed for Pokuase and was informed that the fare had been raised from GH₵5.50 to GH₵7.70.
After several squabbles among the passengers about the new fare, order was restored.
According to JoyNews sources, the deceased, however, refused to pay the new fare and continued to complain. This enraged the driver, who decided to take the passengers back to the Lapaz bus terminal where he had picked them up.

An eyewitness informed that the driver and his companion, together with their colleagues at the bus terminal, forced all passengers to exit from the vehicle, but the victim refused.
According to witnesses, this resulted in a confrontation at the bus station between the dead, the driver and his mate, and others.
The dead was punched in the face, according to an eyewitness, after multiple exchanges of blows between them. He collapsed and hit his head on the pavement, resulting in his death.
His body has since been deposited at the morgue.
