Former President John Dramani Mahama has maintained his stance that the country’s bad administration under Nana Akufo-Addo has resulted in unprecedented levels of hardship.
Mr. Mahama, therefore, blasted the ruling New Patriotic Party for implying that he is the one fuelling the country’s sense of hardship.
Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the NPP’s Director of Communication, said during a press conference that the nation is in excellent shape and that President Akufo-Addo is working hard to boost production and enhance lives.
As a result, he claimed that the former president is poisoning Ghanaians’ brains by instilling in them the belief that things are tough.
“We are not frightened of John Mahama, we know he cannot manage the economy, so we can’t let him poison your minds because if you’re sitting your somewhere and they keep telling you it is bad, Ghana is hard, there is corruption, Ghana is hard; then sometimes, you think it’s true. So we have to speak back.”
Mr. Mahama, however, questioned the ruling party’s “logic” at a meeting with leaders of local churches in Wa on Monday, August 23, 2021, as part of his “Thank You Tour” of the Upper West Region.
As a result, he challenged the administration with admitting the problems Ghanaians are presently experiencing and devising solutions to alleviate those issues.
“Times are hard even though, the New Patriotic Party, NPP still insists times are not hard and that I am the one giving Ghanaians the impression that times are hard. This makes me wonder what kind of logic they have that Ghanaians cannot feel hardship unless I come and tell them.”
