The most recent celebrity to give to the victims of the Akosombo Dam Spill at Mepe in the Volta Region is gospel musician Joe Mettle.
This is a part of the yearly “Love Gift” tradition, in which Joe visits several towns, joins them in prayer, and gives away stuff to the less fortunate.
The ‘Ye Obua Mi’ singer has donated food products, camp tents, medical supplies, water, and clothing to Mepe.
In his speech, he encouraged the crowd and urged them to put their trust in the Lord during these difficult times.

“It’s a difficult time for those affected by the floods. Through the ‘Love Gift’, we hope to provide some comfort and help them get through this challenging period,” he said.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Volta Region’s Member of Parliament for the North Tongu, accepted the gifts on behalf of the community.
“We are deeply touched by Joe Mettle’s generosity. His ‘Love Gift’ initiative is a testament to the power of community spirit and compassion. On behalf of the people of Mepe, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Joe Mettle for his kindness and support during this challenging time,” he said.
Joe Mettle is now getting ready for his yearly Christmas show, which will take place at the Assemblies of God, Cedar Mountain Chapel International in East Legon, Accra, on December 25, 2023.
