The 33-year-old wants to stay, but the talks haven’t gone far. After Liverpool got knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, Van Dijk said he was unsure about things.
I still have no idea right now, for real, he said. I don’t even know what’s going to happen. If anyone says they do, they’re lying. Everyone knows there are talks going on, but that’s it.
Eyes on the Prize While Talking Contracts
Even with the questions about his future, Van Dijk says he’s still focused on winning stuff with Liverpool. The Reds are way ahead in the Premier League, made it to the Carabao Cup final, and were doing great in the Champions League until they got knocked out.
When asked if they paused contract talks to focus on winning, Van Dijk was clear.
Nothing’s on hold, he stated. There are 10 games left, and I’m all in on those. If there’s news, you’ll hear about it – I don’t even know myself. Liverpool Star’s Telling Admission.
Out of Champions League, Looking Ahead
Liverpool lost to PSG 4-1 on penalties after losing 1-0 in regular time, ending their run in Europe even after a good group stage. The manager, Arne Slot, called this a week of finals, with the team trying to keep the momentum going across all competitions.

Van Dijk Feeling Positive for the Rest of the Season
Even though he’s bummed about the Champions League exit, Van Dijk is still upbeat about the rest of the season and believes in his team.
You’ve got to learn from tough times. That’s life, for everyone, including us footballers, he said. We could have done some things better, but overall, I’m proud of how we played.
With two big trophies still up for grabs, Van Dijk is ready to give it his all in the final stretch.
There aren’t many games left, and we can still win two big things. We’re going to give it everything, he said. We need to feel the disappointment, but if we bring that energy to Wembley with our fans, I’m sure we’ll do well. I’m always positive.
He also brushed off the idea that they need extra motivation for these big games.
We don’t need any extra push. If you do, you’re in the wrong job, he said confidently. I’m really looking forward to getting back out there.
