ICYMT: Why the Title Race is Still Wide Open and What’s at Stake
Robertson has known the Souttar brothers for a long time. “I’ve known Harry for ages. He was at Dundee United while I was there,” Robertson shared. “I also played with his older brother John. We’re still teammates for Scotland.”
Their friendship runs deep. They even lived together with two other players at one point. “John is one of my closest pals in football. My family is close with the Souttars too. My parents usually sit with theirs at Scotland matches,” he added.
Following the Socceroos
Robertson enjoys watching Aussie football because of his friendship with the Souttar family.
“We’ve actually tuned in to watch the Socceroos play sometimes,” he said. “Since international breaks happen at the same time, Harry is usually away with Australia while we’re with Scotland. We caught some of their games, especially during the World Cup. I think Harry is a bit of a hero over there!”
Now that Harry is injured, Robertson will focus on his own games for Scotland and Liverpool.
Big Challenges Ahead for Club and Country
Scotland is gearing up for a vital Nations League match against Greece next month. Meanwhile, Robertson wants to help Liverpool chase after titles.
Liverpool is seven points ahead in the Premier League and has made it to the Champions League knockout stage. Yet, Robertson knows it’s important to stay focused.
“We’re not letting the excitement get to us. We just want to win the next game,” he said. “There’s too much going on to look too far ahead.”
While fans might be dreaming about winning a title, Robertson believes in taking one step at a time. “In April or May, then you can start dreaming.”
Liverpool’s next match is against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Thursday (6:30 am AEDT), with live coverage on Optus Sport in Australia. Liverpool Star’s International Inspiration.
