Renowned Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win is pleading with those in charge of Ghana’s football administration to suspend the senior national team, the Blackstars, and make necessary corrections in light of their underwhelming performance at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’ivoire.
Like many angry Ghanaians who were hurt by the Blackstars’ match scoreless draw with Mozambique yesterday, Lil Win is adamant that the senior national team’s declining fortunes and dismal results in recent tournaments can only be addressed by suspending it.
In a Facebook post yesterday after the match, he wrote, “At this junction, let us banned the black stars team and fix it well (sic)”.
A few hours before the game began, Lil Win posted a video in which he angrily warned the players to win or face the wrath of Ghanaians, suggesting that he had seen the impending loss from a distance.

“Blackstars, I swear by Ghanaians that if you don’t play with lots of commitment and joy today to bring us defeat, we will take back all the kente clothes we gave to you and delete all the pictures on Instagram and other social media platforms.
“That is not all, we will curse and beat you people as well,” he said in the video.

When the Blackstars led 2:0 in the final minutes of the game, many Ghanaians had great hopes that they would move on to the next round of the AFCON competition. (Related article: Black Stars let a two-goal lead slip; Mozambique holds Ghana at the 2023 AFCON.)
But when Ghana gave up a 2-0 lead for a heartbreaking 2-2 draw at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Monday night, many fans’ faces lit up with forlorn looks.
Due to the outcome, the four-time AFCON champions finished the group stage with two points, which is usually insufficient for a team to secure a spot among the top four third-place teams.
