A private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu has added his voice to the many calls for the resignation of the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Mr. Kpebu’s call adds to the earlier call from well-meaning Ghanaians including a former Director of the Ghana School of Law and private legal practitioner, Mr. Ansah Asare, and an Associate Professor at the University of Ghana School of Law, Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua.
The Attorney General has come under public scrutiny on the back of allegations by Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance purchase trial, that Mr. Yeboah Dame earlier approached him to help build a case against the Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) ALSO released an audio recording purportedly featuring a conversation between Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance purchase trial.
In an interview monitored by JOYNEWS, Lawyer Martin Kpebu said this incident severely damaged the reputation of the Office of the Attorney-General and embarrassed Ghana’s image on the international front.
Mr. Kpebu also called for the resignation of the Supreme Court Judge who is alleged to have met with the Attorney-General and Richard Jakpa in his private residence.
He said the resignation of both Mr. Dame and the Supreme Court would help the sanctity of the country’s judiciary system.
