Amidst controversy over claims that his song “Aso” reflects his personal life, popular Ghanaian musician George Kwabena Adu, known as Kwabena Kwabena, has clarified the song’s true inspiration.
He emphasized that the song does not stem from his own experiences but instead aims to tell a relatable story for his audience. “The point of the matter is, it’s not a story that happened to me,” he stated. “I was looking for a message that could capture attention and convey a narrative that resonates with many.”
As a writer and composer, Kwabena Kwabena sought to create a narrative grounded in common experiences. “This is a story people can easily relate to because it reflects our daily lives,” he explained.

He highlighted his creative process, which combines meaningful lyrics with rhythms that emotionally connect with listeners. “Putting together lyrics and crafting a message through a rhythm that resonates with people was at the forefront of my mind,” he noted.
These remarks were made at the launch of “Aso @ 20,” an event celebrating two decades since the song’s release.
