The organizers of the ‘Kume Preko Reloaded’ protest have begun collecting signatures for a petition to Parliament calling for the impeachment of President Akufo-Addo and his VP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
They also want Parliament to complete the procedures for removing Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
This has become imperative due to what they have termed as the country’s worsening economic predicament.
Hundreds of Ghanaians took to the streets of Accra last Saturday to demand that the three resign by Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
With less than 24 hours left in the day and no evidence of resignations, the protest organizers said they will officially petition the President to quit and deliver a signed petition to Parliament calling for the three to be impeached.
Martin Kpebu, the convener’s lead and a private legal practitioner, says he expects thousands of signatures.
“We’ve put together an online petition that we’ve invited citizens to sign up to; that is to say that they want the president and the vice to resign. That petition is gaining traction, many of our fellow citizens have signed up.”

“So, we will be drawing more attention to it so that thousands and possibly millions of our fellow citizens would sign up then we would present same to Parliament,” Martin Kpebu said.
Meanwhile, he has intimated that similar protests may be held in other parts of the country.
Martin Kpebu, appearing on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, indicated that this will allow the people of Ghana to express their dissatisfaction with the Akufo-Addo administration.
He claimed that the present government had mismanaged the economy and that Mr Akufo-Addo should retire so that the citizens could vote for a more qualified individual to run the state’s affairs.
“We are still debriefing, it is quite a process. We’ll have other meetings to analyze but even before we were done with this one, we had received invitations from people in Kumasi, Takoradi, and even Tamale to come.
“So we’ll need funding,” he told hosts Winston Amoah and Kojo Yankson on Monday, November 7.
