The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has underscored the invaluable contribution of the Komenda College of Education to the training of educational professionals in the country.
According to him, the College has provided professional training to many which has resulted in them contributing significantly to the development of Ghana and the world at large.
Speaking on behalf of Hon. Adutwum at the launch of the Komenda College of Education’s 75th anniversary, Deputy Education Minister, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour congratulated the college on its 75th anniversary, noting that it had lived up to its mandate since its inception.
He indicated that the college had contributed to the country’s sustainable development.
“We are also very much aware at the ministry of education, of the great transformation taking place at KOMENCO under the current leadership. The many brilliant initiatives that we hear from their reports. The many crops you have done, the trees over 3000 you have planted, the thriving piggery you’ve set, and all the other initiatives that are fast transforming the place.” He continued.
The minister noted that beyond the 75th anniversary of the college, he looks forward to KOMENCO returning to its flagship position in Ghana’s education sphere adding that he is very hopeful that KOMENCO is even going to ‘even shine forth more as the home that becomes hope for the young child who wants to make a difference.’
He further commended the Methodist church Ghana for ‘being a pillar of transformation, great support and being a great partner to the ministry of education and government in ensuring that education in the country is transformed from pre- tertiary all the way to tertiary.
On his part, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most. Rev. Dr. Paul Kobina Boafo indicated that the anniversary was timely given that the Methodist church Ghana is simultaneously celebrating its 75years in education.
He reiterated that KOMENCO had significantly contributed to the nation and the church.
Hence, he called on all and sundry to join in the celebration.
He said “this is where I call on all stakeholders from the government to the council, to students and even those who will be coming to join in this celebration parents alike and everyone. I know that you have benefitted from Komenda College of education.”
President of the Komenda College of Education Old Student Association (KOSA), Mr. David Ansah further reaffirmed the association’s unwavering commitment to the College’s growth.
He indicated that the old students are currently laying structures that will enable them to offer the needed support to the college.
“It is in this respect that the old students reaffirm our commitment, to give our unflinching support to the college management in their endeavour to make Komenco the leading star among all colleges of education in the country.” He added.
