Highlife icon Kofi Kinaata from Ghana recently shared an unexpected explanation for his decision to choose music over football. It turns out that the young football player’s ability to pay for footwear was a significant challenge.
Speaking on “The Chat” on Citi TV, Kofi Kinaata stated,
“Money for boots was the main problem…but with music, you don’t need to buy a microphone before you can sing. You just sing then you pass it on to the owner.”
His career path was greatly influenced by this accessibility gap between the more straightforward beginnings of music and the more expensive equipment required for sports.

He hasn’t published a whole album despite having a ten-year successful music career and winning three times as “Songwriter of the Year” at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
However, that will soon alter! In the upcoming days, he will finally release his project, the “Kofi OO Kofi” EP.
As said by Kinaata: “I’m here because of the fans and the fans are the ones pestering me to release an EP or album.
Since it’s a team now and they’re on my neck to release something, I decided to release it for them to stream.”
The April 15th release date for the EP has been rescheduled to either May 3rd or May 10th. Meanwhile, fans are enjoying his new song, “Efiekuma Broken Heart”!
