Veteran Highlife artiste, Asebu Amenfi has said rapper and song writer Kofi Kinaata’s presence in the music industry is an indication of hope and assurance for the sustenance of highlife music in Ghana.
With many raising concerns of its gradual fading at the passing away of highlife legends such as Daasebre Gyamenah, C. K Mann, Thomas Frimpong, Jewel Ackah, Kofi B Asebu Amenfi says there is still hope for the highlife music in Ghana.
In an interview on ATL FM’s Adademu Special with host Kofi Konadu, Asebu Amenfi claimed song writer and rapper Kofi Kinaata as taking the mantle of highlife music from the veterans although he believes Kwame Eugene is also very promising.
According to the highlife legend, currently, the performance by the young artistes in the music industry leaves very little to be desired as a lot of their songs fail to address pertinent societal issues.
Asebu Amenfi known in private life as Kwabena Owusu started his music career in 1976 and is popularly known for his proverbial lyrical content and command over the Twi language.
At the 2019 VGMA, award winning and popular highlife artiste, Amakye Dede crowned Kwame Eugene as Ghana’s highlife King.
But according to Asebu Amenfi, Kofi Kinaata is “very wise and has good plans for highlife music in Ghana”. In his view, Kinaata’s sings very well and his songs address real issues in the society.

For him, such, is a firm cause of rape cases in the country, describing the situation as a disgrace and disturbing one which ought to be addressed before getting out of hand.
“The guys are usually neatly dressed but the ladies’ is s story for another day. It is very bad. If we don’t’ speak to our ladies, the situation will get out of hand. It is sad”.
