The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the tragic passing of a final-year student, Miss Joana Deladem Yabani, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences student.
According to a statement from the university, KNUST Security Services received a report of a lifeless body near the Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at around 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025. The body was swiftly transported to the University Health Services, where she was confirmed dead.
The university has since informed her family and extended its condolences. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the statement read.
A full-scale investigation is currently underway, involving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
KNUST Management has assured the university community of its commitment to the safety of students and urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
