The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advisory unit of the office of the President has appointed Martin King Arthur, popularly known as Kofi Kinaata in showbiz circles as the Goodwill Ambassador for Ocean Action in Ghana.
The appointment came at the end of the two-day maiden edition of the National Blue Economy Summit in Accra.
At the summit, Dr. Eugene Owusu, the Special Advisor on SDGs to President Akufo-Addo officially conferred on Kofi Kinaata, the ambassadorial role.
As the newly appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Ocean Action, Kinaata pledged to use his platform to advocate for the protection of the ocean and its resources.
His aim in this regard is to ensure that future generations benefit from the blue economy.
Kofi Kinaata has his roots in Tarkoradi, a coastal town in Ghana and the ocean has been a significant part of his life.
Also, this is not the first time that he has been involved in efforts to protect the sea.
In 2019, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development announced the closure of the season for artisanal fishing.
After the announcement, he released a song to increase awareness about the closed fishing season.
His interest in social issues has connected him with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as an advocate for safe migration.
He produced a song titled “No Place Like Home” to encourage safe migration practices.
As the newly appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Ocean Action, Kofi Kinaata’s passion for the ocean and social issues makes him a perfect fit for the role.
His commitment to using his platform to advocate for the protection of the ocean is commendable.
It is hoped that his efforts will inspire more people to take action to protect the ocean and its resources.
