Kenya has received 880,000 doses of the Covid-19 Moderna vaccine from the US to boost its vaccination program.
The Moderna vaccines arrived at the country’s main airport on Monday morning.
The government plans to vaccinate 10 million people by the end of this year and 26 million by the end of 2022.
Already 2.9% of the entire adult population has been vaccinated, according to the health ministry.
The Monday consignment is part of the 1.7 million doses of vaccines promised by the US to Kenya and will be delivered through the Gavi-Covax program.
Kenya has so far received almost three million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
About 780,377 people have so far received two doses of AstraZeneca jab.
