Dr. Stephen Amoah, Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has cleared the air regarding Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, claiming that since he is an emotional person, he reacts too fast to circumstances.
Dr. Amoah, who identified himself as Kennedy Agyapong’s “boy,” said that he does not base his decision on one side of a debate and must listen to Mr. Agyapong’s side before forming an educated judgment about the threat leveled against Multimedia journalist Erastus Asare Donkor on Oman TV.
He did, however, point out that even if Mr. Agyapong did make such purported threatening remarks on television, he can confidently state that he did not intend them.
Dr. Amoah questioned why, despite all the threats and problems surrounding the Assin Central legislator, not a single individual had ever accused him of slapping or assaulting him/her.
He said that in all of his years of working with Kennedy Agyapong, he had never seen him smack even his cleaner, but he is the kind that responds differently when furious.
Dr. Amoah believes Mr. Agyapong’s problem is that when someone says anything to him, he never takes the time to investigate but responds too fast since he does not know how to lie.
He said that in Ghana if people learn that you are the kind that responds too fast to problems, they will start feeding you falsehoods so that you would hate individuals for the wrong reasons.
In an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive, Dr. Amoah also said that Mr. Agyapong is an “extremely nice person” whom he has known for many years.
He was commenting on the Assin Central lawmaker’s threats against a Multimedia journalist on his television channel Oman TV, for which he has gotten a lot of criticism and has therefore been called to parliament’s privileges committee.
“In fact, I’m his boy, I’m like a son. Everybody has positives and negatives, he is extremely kind in life, I have never seen anybody who is as kind as he is. Sometimes about 60 or 70 people will come to him for school fees, he gives everything to people, he doesn’t care. But he is also so passionate that sometimes he overdoes it and the things that when he is angry he says, he doesn’t mean them, he can break down and cry, I’m being honest with you. He is too passionate, he is too committed but I think sometimes because people don’t know him too well, I think that is the problem I think he and his society have”, he said.
He added “I’m one person I don’t listen to one side of a story and I know honorable Kennedy Agyapong even if he said that he doesn’t mean it. I’m being honest with you, look at all that they are talking about Kennedy Agyapong, has anybody come out to say that Kennedy Agyapong has slapped him or her?
“But I worked with him, and he’s never hit anybody, not even his cleaner, that I’m aware of. One issue is that, if someone tells him or says anything about another person to him, I believe he sometimes does not take his time and responds too fast, in my view. Because he himself does not know how to lie.”
