Two teenagers have been remanded into police custody after the Ofaakor District Court found them guilty of murdering a 10-year-old boy at Coca-Cola, near Lamptey Mills in Kasoa.

Felix Nyarko, alias Yaw Anane, a 16-year-old laborer, and Nicholas Kini Kwame, an 18-year-old student, have been charged with conspiracy to murder and murder in connection with the death of Ishmael Mensah Abdallah.

Their pleas were sustained by the Court, which was presided over by Mrs. Rosemond Vera Ocloo.

Chief Inspector Ernest Agbo, narrating the particulars of the event, claimed that the complainant is Frank Mensah Abdallah, a public servant residing in Coca-Cola, near Lamptey Mills in Kasoa.

According to Chief Inspector Agbo, Nyarko is a mason laborer and the complainant’s neighbor, while Kwame is a student who resides in Lamptey Mill, a suburb of Kasoa.

The Court was told that Nyarko and Kwame had been friends since 2008 and that Nyarko had been watching Ghana Television channels for some time now, which included mallams and other spiritualists promoting their abilities to transform people into overnight millionaires.

According to the indictment, Nyarko approached Kwame, who told them that a certain spiritualist in Volta Area could be able to assist them.

According to Chief Inspector Agbo, Kwame, who did not own a phone, gave the spiritualist’s phone number to Nyarko, who had access to his mother’s phone.

According to the prosecutor, after meeting the spiritualist, she promised to assist if Nyarko provided a human being and GHC5,000 for the rituals.

According to the lawyer, the accused persons agreed on Ishmael Mensah Abdallah, now deceased at the age of 10, 11 months, the complainant’s uncle, on April 3, this year.

He claimed that Kwame took shelter in an unfinished house near Nyarko’s and the two decided to begin their operation.

According to the prosecutor, the accused persons armed themselves with a club, a cement block, and a shovel and tricked the deceased into the unfinished building with the help of Nyarko, who was near to the deceased.

According to the prosecutor, Nyarko told the deceased of his friend’s sale of a video game.

He claimed that Nyarko’s original plan was to abduct the deceased and claim GHC5,000 in ransom from the deceased mother, which they would incorporate, in order to take the victim for the ritual.

When the victim returned, the court said that the accused parties realized that kidnapping him would be impossible, and instead intended to murder him.

According to the study, Kwame used a club to strike the victim in the neck from behind, and Nyarko used a cement block to strike the victim in the back, instantly killing him.

According to the prosecutor, Nyarko’s younger sister, aged eight, sensed something was wrong and stepped toward the accused people, but was pushed away by Nyarko.

It said that after murdering the deceased, the accused persons dug a hole and buried him, intending to return at night to transport the corpse to the Volta Region for the ritual.

According to the prosecutor, the accused persons lost luck when Nyarko’s sister went to tell her father (Mr Nyarko), who is a stepfather to Nyarko (the accused person), that something had occurred in an unfinished house.

According to the report, Mr Nyarko arrived at the scene and observed that the region had been “disturbed,” and upon scraping the surface sand, he discovered the corpse of the deceased (the victim) concealed and shrouded in sand.

Chief Inspector Agbo said Mr Nyarko quickly confronted Nyarko (accused) who confessed and mentioned Kwame as his accomplice.

He claimed that the suspects were detained and turned over to the authorities.

The prosecutor argued that attempts were being made to negotiate an understanding with the spiritualist in order to ensure her detention.
