Kafui Danku-Pitcher, recently appointed Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), has revealed her motivations for aligning herself with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), citing her disillusionment with the previous government’s performance.
In an exclusive interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Danku-Pitcher monitored by ATL FM, she articulated her decision to support the NDC ahead of the 2024 general election, attributing it to her firsthand experiences with governmental shortcomings.
“I used to support people in my community,” she recounted, “but the projects I was passionate about were adversely affected by the government’s policies at the time. It became clear to me that change was necessary.”
Beyond her personal grievances, Danku-Pitcher emphasized the NDC’s commitment to empowering youth and women as a pivotal factor in her decision-making process. “They give a lot of opportunities to younger people and women as well,” she affirmed.

“In a nation where gender equality remains a significant challenge, their advocacy for female leadership resonates deeply with me. It’s about inspiring a new generation of women to believe in their capabilities and pursue leadership roles.”
Kafui Danku, who assumed her role as Executive Secretary just a month ago, under the current NDC government expressed confidence in her appointment, citing her extensive leadership experience in various capacities. “I’ve always been encouraged by my supporters to take on more significant roles,” she reflected. “Even before my involvement in active campaigning, there were calls for me to contribute to policymaking and leadership within the tourism sector.”
In her new capacity, Danku-Pitcher oversees the day-to-day operations of the NFA, reporting to a seasoned governing body chaired by a distinguished film industry professional. The NFA’s mandate includes regulating, nurturing, and advancing the Ghanaian film industry, ensuring compliance with legal standards while fostering its growth domestically and internationally.
