Jukwa, Central Region, Ghana – In a significant move to bolster law enforcement and community safety, Jukwa, a town in the Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District on Monday, 25th December, 2023, witnessed the commissioning of a new Police Station.
The commissioning, held amidst a gathering of local dignitaries, law enforcement officials, and community members, marks a pivotal step in the ongoing efforts to enhance public security in the district and its environs.
The newly established facility estimated at over One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000.000.00), equipped with modern amenities, charge office, cells, offices for head and officers, a conference room, among others and a dedicated team of officers, is expected to address the pressing need for effective policing in the area.
Residents of Jukwa, who have long awaited such a development, expressed optimism about the positive impact the station will have on crime reduction and public safety.
Kyidomhene of Denkyira traditional area, Nana Apiako II who represented Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III, the Omanhemaa of the Denkyira Traditional Area thanked the member of Parliament for the Area, Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobbey for the initiative.
In an address, he highlighted the long-awaited need for a dedicated law enforcement presence in the town indicating that the police have been occupying their current place which is a private since 1970.
He thanked the Domakwaahene of Denkyira, Nana Afrifa Yamoah Ponko for providing a vast land for project.
He therefore appealed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) through the Regional Police Commander to make the Jukwa Police Station a Police District looking the facility and the distance from Abura to Wawasee and beyond.
He said the new Police Station has large land which government, any institution or individuals can build accommodation for the police thereby getting barracks for the area.
Handing over the building to the police and community, the MP, who is also the deputy minister of employment and labour relations indicated that that during the regional farmers day celebration in 2022, Nananom appealed to him to use his office to get the people of Jukwa and the surrounding communities a befitting police station to enhance the security in the area.
According to him, the building project was from his own resources adding that the security of every community is paramount hence when nananom appealed to him, he saw it as very dear to chiefs and people about the need to get modern police station for them.
Hon. Wireko-Brobbey further stated that all other projects being done by the central government or the district assembly will be completed soon especially the Jukwa market being built by Coastal development Authority and Jukwa-Krobo road which the contractors have left the site.
He therefore appealed to NPP delegates in HLD to re-elect him at the primaries scheduled for January 2024 to enable him to continue his good work for the constituency.
