Naa Ashorkor, a media personality and co-host of TV3’s New Day, is urging Ghanaians and supporters of Ghanaian football to fully back the women’s national teams in light of the Black stars’ recent underwhelming performance.
A clearly dissatisfied Naa Ashorkor demanded cash to support the female national teams in a post on Twitter(X) yesterday.
She implied that although the Black Princesses and Black Queens were performing incredibly well in several competitions, they were not receiving any assistance.
She wrote: “It’s time to focus on the female teams. The Black Princesses have qualified for the U20 women’s World Cup. Last year the Black Queens won all their games except one. Give them the funding they need, give them the support.”

Similar to Naa Ashorkor, many Ghanaians had great hopes that the Blackstars, who were ahead 2–0 in the latter minutes of the game, would go on to the next round of the AFCON competition.
But when Ghana gave up a 2-0 lead for a heartbreaking 2-2 draw at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Monday night, many fans’ faces lit up with forlorn looks.
Due to the outcome, the four-time AFCON champions finished the group stage with two points, which is usually insufficient for a team to secure a spot among the top four third-place teams.
In addition to Naa Ashorkor, several other Ghanaian celebrities have voiced their displeasure with the Black Stars’ appalling performance at the current AFCON.
Samini, Shatta Wale, Nana Aba Anamoah, and comedian Lil Win are notable among them.
