In April, the rate of inflation falls into the single digits, dropping to 8.5 percent from 10.3 percent the previous month.
The rate reflects a 1.8 percentage point decrease from the rate observed in March.
Month-on-month inflation was 1.5 percent between March 2021 and April 2021.
Food inflation was 6.5 percent, down from 10.8 percent in March, according to Government Statistician Professor Samuel Annim, who reported the figure, although non-food inflation increased to 10.2 percent, up from 10 percent the previous month.
“Food added 33.8 percent to annual inflation, the lowest contribution since the rebate in 2018,” he added.
Inflation for domestically manufactured goods was 8.7 percent, although it was 7.4 percent for imported goods.
Regionally, inflation varied from 2% in the Upper West Region to 12.1% in the Greater Accra Region.
