On Wednesday night, Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams assisted on two goals as Athletic Bilbao defeated Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.
The forward gave the Basque club a 4-2 victory over the Blaugrana team by scoring one goal and setting up another in extra time.
Less than 48 hours before the match, Inaki had left Ghana’s camp in Ivory Coast following the confirmation of the Black Stars’ elimination on Tuesday night.
At the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the right-footed player started in all three of Ghana’s group matches despite the country only earning two of a potential nine points.
But still. Ghana was eliminated from the competition for the second time in a row in the group stage following Cameroon’s victory over Gambia.
On Wednesday morning, Inaki arrived in Spain and was named in Ernesto Valverde’s matchday squad for the cup match against Barcelona.

When the Ghanaian entered the game in the 58th minute, there was still a 2-2 result and extra time was about to be played.
Just before the break in extra time, the 29-year-old made it 3-2 and then set up his brother Nico to put the game out of Barcelona’s reach.
With the win, Athletic Bilbao joins Mallorca and Real Sociedad in the competition’s semi-final.
