Following his “Contracts for Sale” investigative piece, investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni expressed delight with the charges brought against former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority, Adjenim Boateng Adjei.
He expressed his delight on Eyewitness News that his story resulted in something significant.
Mr. Adjei’s company, Talent Discovery Limited (TDL), was receiving government contracts through restricted tendering and selling them to others for profit, according to his inquiry.
Mr. Azure stated, “Even though the case has been delayed, I am happy it has not died.”

“There are some that we have done that didn’t travel this far though there was enough evidence for the state to have gotten a conviction,” he noted.
Mr. Adjei had taken all of the funds from his bank accounts that were meant to be blocked when inquiries into his conduct began, according to Mr. Azure’s recent research for The Fourth Estate.
While the journalist’s tale explains why Mr. Adjei was able to transfer the funds, he has yet to discover what happened to the funds.
“I tried to find out where exactly it was taken to, and I couldn’t really get any answers, and I am just wondering what may have happened,” he said.
Mr. Azure continued, “From my sources, it is even impossible to say exactly where the money was taken to.”
Mr. Adjei, who was fired from his job, has been charged with eight charges of profiting from public office and nine counts of manipulating the procurement process to gain an undue advantage in the awarding of a procurement contract.
He will appear in court for the first time on May 25, 2022, according to the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice also found him guilty of conflict of interest.
CHRAJ claimed to have accumulated GHS 14.8 million in four Dollar and Euro accounts at two banks.
