Seven Petroleum Products Marketing Companies (PPMCs) have received sanctions from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) for distributing petroleum products illegally.
For violating UPPF rules, lying to the Authority about UPPF issues, and using third parties, they must pay fines.
The afflicted companies’ operations will be suspended for three months if the fine is not paid.
The overall fine in the case of Andev Co. Ltd will be GHS90,000.00. This includes GHS10,000.00 for violating UPPF rules as well as GHS10,000.00 for each of the eight UPPF representations made to the Authority that were false.

Beap Energy received a total fine of GHS20,000.00, of which GHS10,000.00 was assessed for violating UPPF regulations and GHS5,000.00 was assessed for two (2) infractions involving third-party supply.
BF Petroleum will pay GHS95,000.00 in penalty overall. In all, this comes to GHS10,000.00 for violating UPPF legislation, GHS5,000.00 for each count of third-party supply, and GHS5,000.00 for each count of lifting petroleum products without cross-zonal authorization.
Anasset Co. Ltd. shall pay a GHS50,000.00 fine. This includes GHS10,000.00 for violating UPPF rules and GHS10,000.00 for each count of providing the Authority with incorrect information on UPPF.
Another company, Cost Energy, received a total fine of GHS 665,000.00, which included GHS 10,000.00 for taking part in third-party supplies and GHS 5,000.00 each count of third-party supplies.
Compass Oleum Ltd. must pay fines totaling GHS350,00.00. The equivalent fines are GHS 10,000.00 for violating UPPF legislation, GHS 5,000.00 for each count of lifting petroleum products without a cross-zone permit, and GHS 5,000.00 for each count of taking part in third-party supply.
A sum of GHS65,000.00 has been levied against Concord Oil Ltd. These amounts include GHS10,000 for violating UPPF regulations, GHS5,000 for each count of using a third party as a supplier, and GHS5,000 for each count of removing petroleum products without obtaining cross-zonal permission.
Any company that disregards the Authority’s permitted rules and regulations would suffer additional repercussions, the NPA warned.
The UPPF ensures that petroleum product prices are uniform throughout the nation.
